At Urban Science, we understand – and deeply appreciate – the contributions nonprofits and charitable organizations make in the communities where our 900+ team members live and do business. From delivering clothing, food and shelter to our neighbors in need to launching emergency animal rescues – and delivering many critical services in between – this is important work that saves and enhances lives. But in the wake of COVID-19, many of these organizations have been strained by reduced donations and volunteerism support. That’s why we mobilized our team to help.
In early November, we launched our new Community Giving grant program, which was created to amplify our team’s passion for doing good through company contributions to the organizations they support. Here’s the scoop: we asked Urban Scientists to nominate nonprofits and charities to receive (10) $1,000 microgrants to further their missions in the wake of the pandemic. Once the nomination period closed, our team members voted to determine the top 10 – our $1,000 award recipients. These organizations – which span the globe – are as follows:
$1,000 award recipients
- Shriners Children’s Mexico
- Detroit Pit Crew
- Spanish Red Cross
- Gleaners Community Food Bank
- Together We Rise
- Angel’s Place
- Lazarus UK
- House by the Side of the Road
- Humane Society of Monroe County
- Coalition on Temporary Shelter
While our 社区捐赠 grant program initially set out to award a total of $10,000 to 10 organizations selected by our team members, we received 25 total nominations and didn’t want to leave any cause behind. So, we extended our awards to include (15) $250 grants to the other organizations nominated.
$250 award recipients include: Angeli da Amara, Bearings Bike Works, CAMI Sport and Cancer, Economist Educational Foundation, Focus: HOPE, KIVA, GoFundMe, Laziochirugia Progetto Solidale, London Irish Foundation, Polaris Project, National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition, SMYAL, Spotlight Players and the Wayne State University Math Corps.
On behalf of Urban Scientists everywhere, we proudly support these organizations as we forge ahead on our mission to make a positive impact on the places where we live and work – and to build a global community that’s inclusive, ethical and inspiring. We thank our team members for their contributions toward this mission – and we’re grateful to be in a position to help further the causes of the difference-makers nominated during this year’s 社区捐赠 grant cycle.
